"If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything?" Mark Twain The problem with telling the truth is that everyone has a different idea of what real truth is. For instance, many people only give part of the truth while leaving out part of the information. I believe this is a lie because you are letting people believe that all the information required is in the open, when it is not. This is commonly referred to as a half-truth. The Bible says that God always keeps his promises. In the book of Jeremiah, God says that he watches over his word to perform it. He literally keeps track of what he promises to make sure they are fulfilled. If we call ourselves Christians, can we do any less than what God does? Yes, we are going to forget sometimes, but it should not become a habitual thing to break our promises or tell only part of the truth when we know the rest of the information. So we need to repent if we are doing this sin, and work steadfastly to tell the whole truth, even when it hurts to do so. We need to tell God's kind of truth, not that of the world. The Bible says in Romans 12:2, not to let ourselves be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by God, letting him renew our minds. We are being conformed to this world if we tell the wrong kind of truth. The sad part is, the more we sin in this way the easier it is to do it over and over again.
