Cut The Crap

A lot of people, from what I have observed, are layers and layers of deception. They wear masks, play roles, and become different actors for different audiences. Why do they do that? Why can't they just be who they are? Why do they feel the need to put up a front? I just don't get it. I don't surround myself with people who are constantly looking outwardly positive; those who wear a plastered smile on their face to mask whatever they actually have going on in their life. I know a fake smile when I see one. I prefer to be around people who are real, honest and raw; those who are not afraid to be themselves. I don't like people to walk on eggshells around me; carefully choosing their words when they speak to make the "right" kind of impression. With me it's simple. If your day sucks, I want to hear about why it sucks, so I can try to help make it better. If you're not really happy, don't fake a smile to try to fool me. I'd rather you spill your guts with tears streaming down your face every day until your smile is real because I don't care about the show, the act, the disguise or the politically correctness. If you want to roll with me, keep it real - be in your own skin.
