Penance Paid

A smile that genuinely hides pain,
Practiced laughter to mask fear.
A mirage, this mask she seems to play.
When hidden in shadow, what she sheds are tears.
Bearing body of a woman,
having the soul, the heart of a child.

Lust filled deeds committed by one man.
Taking from her, something that broke her angel smile.
Ferociously ripping from her something she didn't give away.
Something no one can ever replace.
When his lustful act stole the innocence of a child.

Behind jaded eyes, you will find.
Tears of wretched pain,
Eternity she shall pay, 
Penance for what had been taken away
