When we are inflicted with pain, be it through lies, betrayal, abandonment and such, it is natural to feel hurt. The shadow and the darkness arrive hand in hand, waiting to be acknowledged and expressed. But who are we when we are hurting? Are we vindictive, vengeful, and manipulative? Are we soft, silenced, and scared? Are we self aware? Are we present? Do we run? Escape? Turn to drugs, alcohol, sex? Do we inflict pain upon ourselves? It is important that we ask ourselves who we are when we are hurting because it reveals unhealed aspects of ourselves. When we are hurting, we can see, understand and transform energies. Who we are when we are hurting allows for the opportunity to witness the shadow that has been evaded. Who we are when we are hurting is a question we must ask ourselves to understand what needs healing, to take responsibility and move away from self-denial energies. When we are hurting, the truth is revealed about how open our hearts are. It is easy to find peace, give love, be optimistic and empowered when we are not hurting. The true test is how peaceful, open, giving and optimistic we are when we are hurting. So the next time you are hurting, ask yourself.... who am I when I'm hurting?
