It all started 23 days ago. I was sitting in my room with my notebook open on a blank, fresh page. The "tunes" was on; a compilation of R&B tunes from my CD collection, and I was set to write. I picked up my pen and stared at the blank page. Nothing. I must have sat there for about half an hour trying to think of something to write. Still, nothing. "Writer's block"; yeah, I was having one of those episodes. In fact, it had been ongoing for the past couple of months. The writing projects I was working on with my writing partner hasn't been going the way I planned and that had sort of killed my spirit. My heart just wasn't in it anymore. I wasn't feeling it anymore.

Frustrated by yet another spell of blankness, I picked up my phone and decided to surf the Google Play Store. My intention was to look for another new game to install on my phone. Yeah, I'm a game junkie and I'm not ashamed to admit that. Anyway, whilst surfing, I saw a list of recommended apps that are recommended for me. I browsed through the list and then I saw it; the two magic words - "Writer's" and "Outlet". This was among the apps recommended for me. By who? It didn't matter. I was stoked. I clicked on the app to check it out. First thing I did was read the reviews. Next, I read the brief description of the app and what it has to offer. I was excited and intrigued so I installed the app.

I spent the first couple of days studying the app and the format by religiously going through the library. I wanted to get a feel of what's there. The more I read, the more I was in awe. There are so many talented writers in here! Then a thought crossed my mind.... "Do I have what it takes to be one of them?" ... There's only one was to find out - go for it. And I did.

I dropped my first piece, "Timing", at 12.57am (Malaysian time) on December 21st, 2017. I had no idea what to write about and the writer's block wasn't exactly helping either. But I was dying to give it a shot and so I went with my gut and wrote about what was going on with me at that moment - my thoughts. I admit, it wasn't one of those showstopper kind of pieces but hey, at least I made an attempt. After dropping the piece, I found myself struggling to find a category to put it in. I mean, where does one put "mental thoughts" in? Finally, I decided to put it in the Stories category and hit 'publish'. I can still remember the excitement I felt when I saw my completed piece published on my screen. I was grinning and shaking with giddiness. I hit up my writing partner and told him about my unexpected find and insisted that he installs the app too. He did.

I ended up dropping four pieces in here on December 21st, 2017. Not bad for someone who's been battling with writer's block for months, eh? And I have been writing in here everyday ever since. Oh, that writer's block? That's cured. And the new game I was looking for to install? I didn't look for it in the end. I didn't need to. I found something better.
