Scene 1

Jane Sterling had been packing her suitcase for well over an hour now she has been having troubles deciding what to bring.  She has packed clothes for every occasion right now she is fumbling with the clasps trying to close it with all her clothes inside.  With a few pushes and grunts she manages to shut it completely and hears the clasps click into place.

Janey is a a young woman, aged 24 to be precise. she has lived in her small town of Harper's Falls since she was born. She feels like she has so much more and has always wanted to discover the world and see what is really out there.   The day after her 24th birthday she decided to leave the town behind, In fact she even has a place she wants to go to, a city by the sea known as Covington bay. 

Finally finished with her suitcase Janey lifted it off the bed and placed it on the floor. She walked over to her mirror, staring at herself, her brown eyes, her young skin reflecting back at her she pulls her light brown hair into a ponytail and uses a scrunchy to keep it in place., Suddenly she hears a knock at the door.

"You can come in mom!" Janey yells.

Her mom Brenda Sterling enters, a tall woman, she has been against Janey leaving this whole time.  Janey knows her mom is just worried about her, but this is something she just has to do.

"Janey dear", I wish that you would just change your mind, why can't you just wait a few more years?"

"I have already told you mom, I need to just see what is out there, I have been saving this whole time I have saved a lot, This is something that I just need to do, I wish you would just trust me, I know what I am doing."

"I am just worried for you Janey, you don't know exactly what you are getting into, Covington Bay is a thousand miles away it's on the other side of the country1 and what will you do when you get there? what will you do for a job? what will you do for money?

"You know me, I can find my own way I always have, I always will, I am not doing this to be mean, I promise I will keep in touch with you, I love you mom"

and with those words Janey was out the door, getting into the car and driving to the airport, her plane tickets in the glove compartment. She finally feels like her life is really beginning.

Scene 2

Janey has been in Covington Bay for six hours now, she took an uber to the beach and found a spot on a pier overlooking the sea. She can feel the warmth on her skin, she can smell the cool air as the breeze comes in from the ocean, it feels magical.  

She spends the next twenty minutes looking peering out over the ocean watching the waves before she pulls out her cellphone to call her mom. She gets her voicemail and leaves a message telling her she got to Covington bay alright and that she is okay. Slipping the cellphone into her purse, she finally turns around from the sights and decides to spend some time walking up and down the shop area. 

Janey pushes through the sea of tourists and makes her way to a small restaurant called Joy's place, she walks inside and takes a seat at the counter. A woman comes up to her with a smile on her face, a tall brunette woman with a name tag that reads Joy.

"What can I get you she asks?" with a smile.

"I'll just have a Tuna fish sandwich with some lemonade."

"Coming right up Ms."

As Janey looks around she can hear the chatter of the other patrons. Lots of younger people, some surfer types.   Some older, some younger.  It looks like this place may be popular with mostly the younger crowd, as she looks around taking in the crowd, she can see mostly people around her age.   After waiting some time Joy finally comes back with her sandwich and lemonade.

" You're really not from around her are you?" 

"well," Janey says with a smile not really" I am from Harper's Falls a long ways from here"

"So what brings you here then? you just a tourist?"

"Well not exactly, I'm here because I need to find myself, need to find what I am capable of. I just want to make a life for myself does that make sense?

"I guess in a way but a young woman like yourself so what are you looking for here?"

Janey laughs a little before saying "First I need a job and I need to place to sleep.

"You're in luck!" Joy says with a laugh, because I am looking for a person to employ and I know where you can get a room for pretty cheap, it's not much but it is a start.

"That sounds fantastic! I will take it, I can't thank you enough!"

"Good you can start tomorrow and I will book you a motel room, you can stay there till you get on your 
feet" 

after several minutes of eating and drinking, Janey is finally finished with her food, she steps back outside into the warmth not believing her luck.  She has a job already and a place to stay! it is just one of those happy coincidences. All of a sudden, a young girl comes sprinting by, shoving into her hard and making off with her purse, Janey tries to follow but loses the girl in the crowd.........

This is only the start of the story, what does Covington Bay have in store for Janey? what are the residents like and a better question what secrets are they hiding?
