The weeping and wailing
Inhaling exhaling.
The crying and praying
and griping of railings.
The pain is impacting.
The doctors reacting.
The muscles contracting
A pain that is boxing.
Ten centimeters and the
head is out.
Two rocks to the side
and the shoulders
come out.
You're anticipating
a girl or a boy.
Giving birth is
a painful joy.
But when its all over
and the child is born
there is joy in your heart
for the gem in your arms.
