More character development. Cassandra's POV this time. The back door slammed, and Diana, Nick, and Jacob walked back in from practice. "We're back!" Diana announced, even though the other three of us were in the sitting room. Diana plopped down in her chair and jammed her earbuds into her ears. Jacob wandered off to the bunk room, probably to stare at the ceiling some more. Nick met my eyes and jabbed his thumb in the direction in the kitchen. I nodded and turned toward Julie. I pointed at Diana, our sign for, Keep Her Busy! Julie rolled her eyes, but nodded. She spun Diana's chair, which was facing the open wall in the kitchen to face the wall. Diana jumped a bit, before tilting her face up to look at her. "What in Saturn's name are you doing?" Julie laughed, "your hair off course!" She undid her long blue ponytail and began braiding it. I hustled off to the kitchen, where Nick was waiting. "Things went really well today!" Nick rushed. "I think I'm ready to ask her-" "Nick!" I cut him off. "I have a plan. " His gray eyes widened and he nodded his head so hard I thought it would roll off his neck. "Tomorrow," I began, "it's you and Jacob to the market. Wednesday, it's me and Diana. If you and I switch, you go with her, and I go with Jacob." "Why would you want to go Monday with Jacob? I thought you hated him?" "Miranda doesn't work on Mondays." I answered smoothly, as if I'd rehearsed it. "Besides, I'm willing to go to the market with I'm if it gets Ni/ana closer to happening." I headed back to the sitting room where Julie was braiding so slowly I thought her fingers were going to freeze.
