I kept waking up to scratching noises at night and in the morning I awoke to my alarm clock. My head was pounding so I got up and stumbled to the bathroom. Rose had been let outside by me in the middle of the night because she was whining and scratching on the door. After I let her out though the scratching sounds did not stop. I shook it off and got some Tylenol grabbing a glass bottle of Starbucks coffee and chugged it down. I didn't know why but I was very tired. I looked at the oven clock to see that it was 7 in the morning but I didn't care. I decided to stay home that day and as I went back into my room to throw on a sweater I froze seeing gashes in the wall. They were small but all over the lower half looking almost like a cat's. I used to own a cat til she was found dead in my basement. I frowned. Could my place be haunted? No… I sighed and walked back out and started making myself eggs and toast finding a scratch mark on the back of my hand that looked like a cat's doing. I finished making breakfast and ate watching some cartoons to calm my nerves when I got a text again. ‘Skipping school? What a naughty girl you are.’ It was from the blocked user and I froze. I bit my lip and turned my phone off and for good measures made sure all my windows were locked and so was the door. I stayed outside my room and decided to draw after I had finished breakfast and let Rose back in. A channel came up that I found myself fascinated with. An old children’s show that was called Candle Cove about pirates and a little girl. The characters creeped me out but I found myself not able to look away until it ended. When it did I blinked reaching for the remote and when I turned back to the tv it was static. Apparently the tv had switched to a channel that didn't exist which was weird...unless I bumped the remote while I was looking for it but I couldn't find the odd show again so I settled for Looney Toons. As I watched I mostly had my eyes trained on my notepad drawing the strange characters from the show I had been drawn to. At noon I decided to go back to my room and didn't know how to cover up the scratch marks so I decided to say it was Rose. When my parents came home I was asked why I skipped school and I told them I didn't feel safe. They just told me I was being delusional but I could tell they were a bit worried. I went back to my room and when I closed my door I could hear them talking about me. Something about seeing a therapist and I sighed sitting on my bed. Rose licked my face as if to reassure me. I smiled and got up logging on my computer and checked my email. I noticed I got one from Oliver that was saying how he was worried and he didn't see me at school. I emailed him explaining everything. He was a very superstitious person and it took him awhile to answer. I guessed he was thinking. Then he answered.
Well Kiki the scratch marks on you and your wall could be from your dead cat but that doesn't explain the man. I had just finished this series called Marble Hornets but the man you described had died. He worked for a creature called the Operator. But if he is stalking you it is not safe to talk here. Meet me at our hideout at midnight. Hide yourself.
I smiled and logged off knowing he was right. As I waited for midnight I changed into a black shirt with white words that said ‘Me sarcastic? Never.’ A black hoodie with white strings, and black shoes with white shoelaces. I paced around biting my lip till it bled scared. What if the man arrived? I shivered and soon it turned midnight and I heard my parents go to bed. I took a deep breath and let my dog out quietly. My parents were already asleep and I let Rose out before going into the woods. I had brought my bag and a blank notebook. I turned on my flashlight and quickly made my way to the hideout crossing over the small bridge over the small stream. The hideout was a small hole in a dead tree covered with sticks and such to hide it and make it bigger. As I crawled in Oliver was already there. He had a notebook and a lantern and he smiled. “Hey Kiki.” He whispered and I smiled. “So...What is going on?” I asked. He nodded opening his notebook flipping around. I couldn't read it since he had written it in a language he had made up to keep his geniusness a secret. I watched and he looked up at me. “The marble hornets was this movie that was going to air but it never did. The director Alex saw the so called Operator, a tall faceless creature in a suit. The creature was originally after him but when he proved difficult and Jay started poking around he took over the two main actors Timothy Sutton and Brian Haught. Who turned into Masky and Hoodie. One white mask and the other the black mask.” He explained and I listened. “But in the end Jay wadkilled by Alex, Brian killed himself and Tim killed Alex so there is no way he can be alive...Unless…” He frowned. “Unless what?” I asked confused. I was kinda scared though about his answer. I was starting to get superstitious. “Unless he was brought back by the creature.” he said looking at me. I frowned. “He was brought back to life?” I shook my head. “How was this going to help me?” I asked him and he cleared his throat. “Sorry, I got a bit off track. The deal is basically is that they are going to either kill you or make you one of them. I don’t know what they will do or how So I’ll try and research more a-” I interrupted him. “No it’s okay...I need to face them on my own.” I told him and he nodded slowly. I knew he didn’t like the idea and he sighed. “We should go...I need to get some sleep...You coming to school tomorrow?" he asked looking up as I got up and I shook my head. "No mom is going to let me stay home since..Well she thinks something is wrong with my head..." he nodded understandingly and I left quickly making my way home and dove under my covers not changing into pj's and fell asleep quickly.
