I awoke early with a yawn my alarm wasn’t on since it was Saturday. I smiled stretching but when I realized Rose wasn’t laying in my bed next to me I remembered yesterday. I sighed looking around my room which hasn’t changed except for the remains of the food from last night and the note that was gone. I frowned and my phone buzzed. I looked at it. It was halfway across the room since I threw it last night after getting a text ‘Nice Pjs’ I growled but ignored it. But it buzzed more. Someone was calling it. I sighed getting up and answered. “Hello?” I answered. Silence. Then heavy breathing and sobbing. “Hello? Are you okay?” I asked not caring that it was the blocked user. Then they answered. “You’ve been so calm.” They were still crying. “Why are you crying?” I asked. “I’m not crying. This stupid bitch who’s reading this is.” the woman sobbed as she answered and I growled. “What the fuck do you want!? Why did you take my dog!?” I half yelled not caring anymore. “You’ll know in due time.” the woman sobbed back and there was a gunfire making me jump. Then they hung up. I dropped the phone out of surprise and shuddered. ‘They just shot a women…’ I thought to myself. ‘I need to clear my head.’ I nodded getting dressed. I put on a red plaid shirt with black jeans and brown ankle boots. I started to walk out but looked at my brown hiking bag and grabbed it putting my black hair in a ponytail. I opened the bag putting my phone in my pocket and put my drawing notebook, and my journal in my bag. I also grabbed two mechanical pencils putting one in my hair and the other in my pocket next to my phone. I walked out of my room putting the rest of the hummus and pepsi in the fridge filling my water bottle with lemon water and put it in my bag side pocket. Then I put a sandwich baggie full of trail mix in a smaller pocket in my bag and shouldered it walking out. As I walked through the woods that was connected with my backyard I felt calm. I knew these woods all my life and I smiled and began to sing my voice calm and soothing. “I sense there’s something in the wind…” I was in the school play and they were doing ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ I was the lead actor playing Sally. “That feels like tragedies at hand…-” I heard my phone buzz and I checked it my blood ran cold. It was a text from the blocked user. ‘Nice voice sweetheart’ I gulped and shuddered and turned off my phone and hurriedly went on my way back to the house. I froze and saw someone in jeans, an orange hoodie and a black mask with a stitched frown. I tried to ignore him and kept walking my head down but suddenly I bumped into something and it made me stumble back and I looked up seeing him. I backed up watching him but he didn’t move so I turned and ran. I ran until I felt like my lungs were going to give out but whenever I looked back he was there. He didn’t seem like he was moving so I stopped to catch my breath and quick as a flash he was running towards me and before I could react he pushed me down on the ground and ran off. I growled getting up and brushed the leaves off me looking around and somehow he had disappeared. I shook my head and started walking back. I couldn’t let him or it win. I guessed it was a male when I bumped into him. I kept walking but when I got close to home he was there. He was standing in the middle of the path and I froze. He didn’t talk or move but I caught a glimpse of a shotgun on his back and I took a step back. I gulped and ran again. He didn’t follow but I managed to run through the woods and found myself somewhere that lead out of the forest and onto the road. I panted looking around and began walking. I took a swig of my water my hands shaking a bit so I ate some trail mix. I soon found myself on my street and quickened my pace. As I got home no one was home. They were no cars since everyone was at work but I was surprised when Rose my Irish Wolfhound, ran up to me. I smiled kneeling down and hugged her. I saw a note on her like a collar and I took it off and read it:
You can enjoy your dog now. But we will come for something else. You.
I shuddered and crumpled it up and walked inside. Rose followed me and as soon as she was in the house I shut the door. I didn’t lock it since I knew no one had a key and I wasn’t going out of my room. I went straight to my room having Rose come in with me and shut the door, locking it. I placed my bag on my bed and Rose jumped up panting and lay down on my bed. I smiled and went out just to grab the hummus and Pepsi and went back in.

I spent the whole day in my room. I drew the figure I had seen and took my journal making a new entry and writing about what had happened that day. When my parents came home I got a knock on the door when it was dinnertime but I told them I wasn't hungry. In truth I was snacking on chips and hummus writing to busy to be distracted by anything.
