Another Icarus Has Fallen Read Count : 129

I am Icarus, always jumping off cliffs and testing wings too fragile to hold me aloft.

You were my Apollo, my sun. My too bright star, blinding me from shadows that would have protected me from your scorching heat. Now I have burned off my wings and you have left. The night sky is a cool, vast void I want to explore, to revel in. I want to cool my aching scars but cannot. I’m stuck in this house that is not a home.

You were my home, for just a moment. I was gold gilded and your favor shined on me and I was home. But no more, no more. Now your light shines on someone else and I pray to the holy wild that your heart is softer with this one. Heaven can’t bear to lose another angel to your fires.
