Life is full of mystery. You can't predict what is in store, for you don't know what is waiting for you around the corner. Well, life has taken me on a very unexpected journey and here is my story.

I fell in love with a voice I heard on the radio with no idea who he was or what he looked like. I knew nothing at all about him then, not even his real name. All I had going was his voice and I fell hard for it. I would tune in to his radio program religiously everyday. I was so sure he will always be just a voice of mystery to me and nothing more. And I was okay with that.

Then a few years later, I went to a club to meet up with an old DJ friend. And who should step right in front of my face and introduced himself? Yup, you guessed it - "The Voice"! Finally  I was able to put a face to a name.

The next day, I hit him up on his show via text. He read my text on air and he took my phone number from the radio station's caller ID text board. After he read my text on air, he replied to my text. He sent the text to my phone from his phone - his way of making sure I too have his number.

From there, we got to know each other better. We hit it off from the get go. Unfortunately, timing wasn't right for us then as we were both involved with other people. Still, a special bond was built between us. The chemistry was undeniable. All that happened more than a decade ago.

Today, he and I are still living separate lives. The bond remains intact, and the chemistry has bloomed and developed into something deeper. Still, it's complicated. Too many obstacles still surround us, too many unfinished business still unresolved, and I guess the timing is still not right for us to get it on. Will we ever be together as one? I have no idea. But one thing I do know; my love for him, that is the love I will carry with me to my grave.

I shared this story of mine with a friend and he came up with a poem for me that captures the essence of my story and my journey. And the poem goes like this....

Suddenly I heard a voice that touched my soul.
Who was this man, to find out was my goal.
But as time passed, I was not to know.
Until one day, when his face God would show.
It seemed like a dream, but it was all so true.
We traded numbers, and became one and not two.
Life has a way of making things tough.
Already involved made things a little too rough.
But he is my soulmate and I will wait forever.
If it takes a lifetime we will be together.

Yes, life is definitely full of mystery. Where will this journey take me? What is next in store for me in this story? I guess I will just have to be patient and wait and see.
