My day had not started good at all. First I missed the bus for school on my very first day of high school, then my locker got jammed, causing me to be late to my first period class, and finally, I lost my wallet and I couldn't get lunch that day. At that point, even my best friend couldn't cheer me up. After this long, terrible day, I finally slumped to my bus. Suddenly, I saw someone walking right into the middle of the parking lot, and someone had lost control of their car and was heading right for her. I started shouting at her to get out of the way, when I realized it was the girl from my 3rd period math class, and she is deaf! So I dropped everything I was holding and ran as fast as I could to where she was walking. Using all my strength, I shoved her to the safety of the curb, but I couldn't get away quick enough. The final thing I saw was her face shift from anger to sudden fear, when everything went black.
Strangely enough, I begun to feel myself being shaken awake. I suddenly remembered what had happened, and half expected to be laying on the golden grounds of Heaven and God standing over me. Except, when I opened my eyes, I saw the face of a little girl with fair skin, light brown hair, and chocolate brown eyes; she looked about six years old. I sat up, extremely confused, when she begun to speak to me.
"Yay! You're finally awake. Now, it's time for our tea party, Poppy."
Wait, Poppy? I thought my name was McKenna. So I asked her, "Um, can I ask you where am I and who are you."
"Hahaha!" she laughed and then spoke again, "Silly goosey. You are in my bedroom for my fancy tea party. Oh yeah, and I am Miss Rebecca, your host. Now come sit down Princess Poppy, it's time for the tea party to begin!"
I stood up to make my way over to the little table "Miss" Rebecca was sitting at when I realized I was wearing a pink, puffy dress. As I sat down in the small chair, I lost myself in thought. "This is impossible," I thought to myself, "Shouldn't I have gone to Heaven, how did I end up in this dress, how am I effortlessly walking in it, and how did I end up in the bedroom of a girl who is calling me Princess Poppy?!"
Finally, I shook away my thoughts and played tea party with Rebecca. Surprisingly I was actually having a lot of fun with her. After about an hour, the door to Rebecca's bedroom opened, and in walked a lady who I assumed was her mom.
"Hey Rebecca! Are you ready for lunch. I made pizza, your favorite!" she asked her
"Yay, pizza!" exclaimed Rebecca, "Mommy, can Princess Poppy join us for lunch?"
"Princess Pop-? Oh, of course sweetie!" Rebecca's mom showed confusion on her face for a split second, but quickly turned it to excitement. Can she really not see me? Let's be honest, I think it's hard to miss me wearing a giant pink dress.
"Yay, come on Poppy." Rebecca grabbed my hand a guided me down the stairs to the kitchen. Her mother set down a plate of cheese pizza for Rebecca while I sat next to her and observed the room. The one thing that I did notice was a mini flat screen T.V that was turned on to the news. All of a sudden, a certain news report came on...
"Breaking News!" started the male news reporter, "Local high schooler named McKenna West was going about her day when she saved the life of fellow student named Madison Hart. Madison was walking in the parking lot to get to her friends car when she was shoved into the curb. Miss Hart told us she was furious for a split second untill she turned around and saw McKenna standing where she had just been a second ago and was terrified when she saw the car....."
Out of no where, Rebecca's mom muted the T.V. "I don't want Rebecca to hear this part." She mumbled under her breath. It was clear she had heard this story before. Then she unmuted the T.V.
"..... and tomorrow at 5:30 p.m, there will be a memorial service for McKenna, located at the high school."
"Mommy, Mommy! Can we go to the memorial service for McKenna." exclaimed Rebecca.
"Oh sweetie, you didn't even know who McKenna was." said her mom.
"Oh who cares. McKenna risked her life to save another life, I think she deserves to be remembered. Plus, we can show Princess Poppy around town." Rebecca jumped up out of her seat and run upstairs and motioned for me to follow. I silently followed, but my thoughts were extremely loud. I started connecting some dots. If I died yesterday, then I should have gone to Heaven, but instead, I woke up in Rebecca's room, and if her mom couldn't see me then there-. Then it finally dawned on me. I was her......
