   No wonder it's called
   the sunflower.
   Its petals resemble
   the rays of the sun.
   Spreading in the warm
   daylight like
   an horizon.

   warming the hearts of
   of the children at play
   picking and smelling
   the plant.
   The sunflower grows in
   a cluster; some straight,
   some slant.

On a very bright day you
   can see it shining; its
   beautiful golden colour.
   No other plant can take
   the place of the magnificent
   sunflower.

                           A. P. Johnson.
