I agree, you can critique a piece without being rude. I find, if you say something they did good, then say something they need to work on, then say something good again this cushions the negative critque of a writing. However, I dont believe you should just give five stars because they wrote something either, this does not help a inspiring writer grow in their craft. I will not comment on spelling or grammical errrors because often these are fixed in the editing process, and besides im not very well gifted in that area either. I will leave comments on story structure, moving the plot along, character archs, ect. I will always be honest with my comments and stars but I will never be rude or mean. I joined this app because I want honest opionions about my writing.
