Chapter 2: Preparing for Anima High

"I know this is confusing," said Professor Callihan. "But it's the real you!" He added. "It's okay," I said. "It's actually super awesome!"

"Well, could I offer to take you to a school?" He asked. "It's for people just like you. There's no catch, and it's free. We'll pay for travel expenses," he said. I thought for a moment. It would be like a big family. The family I never had. I looked at him and said "yes. I'd love to." Then, I paused and realized he had said 'travel expenses.' 

"Um, how far is it?" I asked. "Oh, it's in Japan." Said Professor Callihan. "JAPAN?!" I said in shock. Then, I thought of the idiots here in America. I liked the sound of it. "Look, it may seem far, bu-" he started, but then I  shook my head to interrupt him. I was originally from Japan. "Alright, I'm in. When do classes start?" I asked. 

"Three days," said Professor Callihan. "Okay, so that's three days to get outta here and get my butt to Japan. Sounds good to me." I said. "Oh, and one more thing. I need to give you your real birth certificate." Said Professor Callihan. 

"My real certificate?" I asked. "Yup," said Professor Callihan. He gave me a  rolled-up paper. I unrolled it and read it aloud. "Lena Kara?" I asked about my name. "I know it seems odd, but that is your true name." Said Professor Callihan. "I love it," I said. "Better than 'Kira' especially."

"Well, I will leave now and let you pack," said Professor Callihan. He gave me a plane ticket to Usagi, Japan. "Thank you," I said. He shook my hand and left. 

I went to my room and grabbed my katana and bow. I took the bow, drew it, and said "Okami o takio ku lou" which meant 'the wolf consumes my enimies.' A wolf was summoned while the arrow hit the target hanging on my wall. I needed to get a picture of John and put it up there, so I could shoot him any time I wanted. 

It was about supper time, and I had an urge for steak. I put a baseball cap on and tied a jacket around my waist. I didn't want anyone to see me with my wolf features. I wondered if there was some kind of spell to hide my wolf genes. 

I headed out to the steak house on Bay Street. I couldn't afford a car, but I didn't want to take the bus, so I walked. I heard the sound of the waves crashing on the shore, laughter of kids playing together, cars zooming through the highway. Even though the town I was in seemed nice, I couldn't help but imagining what Usagi was going to be like. Cherry blossoms floating through the air, calm music playing, streets lit with lanterns. 

As I approached the steak house, I could already smell the food. I was going to try to get out of there as soon as posible. Mainly for two reasons. A) someone could figure me out. B) the smell of steak could send me on a rampage.

I got seated down and I placed my order. Once it came, I quickly ate it down. I paid and walked away without a word.

Once I got home, I was tired. But, I had to figure out how I was going to do everything. I laid on my bed and loom at the plane ticket Professor Callihan had given me. The plane departed at 8pm tomorrow night. I would tell my landlord I was moving out first. Then, I would buy some supplies and books. Next, I would pack. Then, I realized I needed to make time for food, and to get rid of stuff I didn't need.

I looked at my clock. It was 7:00. I had 24 hours to do everything. I picked up my phone and called a charity. I told them to bring a truck to my apartment as soon as possible. They said they were sending a group of people as soon as possible. 

I started throwing the sheets off my bed and separated the parts. Luckily, it was only a twin bed. The truck came 30 minutes within my call. "Thank you for your donation," said a muscular man with a beard. "Oh, it's nothing!" I replied. "Sorry I called so late at night!" I added. "It's all good!" Said the man. 

We finished loading the truck with my furniture and food within an hour and a half. I made myself a palate in the floor with my sheets and blankets. I fell asleep while thinking about the big day ahead of me. I couldn't wait.
