I never thought I’d marry the man who I was scared of at first, but that’s before I met the Wizard of the West in Oz. After a tornado took my house (which I was in with my Bull Mastiff, Bella) away from Michigan, I never knew where I was going to end up at, if I was gonna survive the flight at all. When we landed a few minutes later, I befriended the good witch Glinda, who was the new ruler of a land of little people known as Munchkins. The old master for the Munchkins was the now-deceased Wicked Witch of the East. Apparently, our house flattened the Witch, so all that was left of the Witch was her feet with her shoes on them.

While we were celebrating the death of the Witch, a Munchkin let out a shrill scream, which caused the party to come to a halt as all eyes fell upon him: the Wizard of the West. As all the Munchkins (as well as Bella) played dead at the arrival of the Witch's somehow handsome brother, Wizard asked, "Who killed her? Who killed my sister?" Bravely, I stepped forward and said, "My house did, Sir, but since I was inside when it killed your sister, I take full responsibility for your sister's death." With a strangely-enchanting gleam in his eye, Wizard warned, "I'll get you for this, cutie, and your dog, too." He then smiled at me and disappeared from sight and once he was gone, I was rewarded for my bravery with the Witch's shoes.

After putting the shoes over my socks, I told Glinda and the Munchkins about my desire for a man to call my own. Everyone then told me that the good Wizard of Oz, known as "Oz," would be the perfect one to help me. Glinda then kissed me on the forehead before joining the Munchkins in saying "goodbye" as Bella and I skipped to the Emerald City. We made it there with only one mishap: the poppy field, which had been poisoned with a sleeping spell from the Wizard. Glinda got us out of our drowsy dilemma by sending a brief snow flurry, which woke us up and helped us continue our journey to the Emerald City, where we were immediately led to Oz's throne room.

As I entered the room, I gasped as Oz boomed, "Who goes there?" While bowing to the man, I cleared my throat and answered, "If you please, great Oz, I am Lydia, the tall yet weak. I've come to ask if you can find me a man to call my own." Oz looked me in the eyes and asked, "So, you want a man, do you?" I nodded and said that he was correct before being told to retrieve Wizard's staff. After saluting to the leader, I turned and marched out of the Emerald City, with Bella close behind. We found our way to Wizard's dark castle, but when we were very close to it, we were taken inside by a couple of flying monkeys. I don't know where those evolutionary rejects put Bella, but they dropped me off in a room in the castle, where I was greeted by Wizard.

After refusing to give him the shoes that belonged to his sister, Wizard showed me an hourglass before turning it over and saying that the sands in it represented how much longer I had to live. I boldly nodded and wondered how I was gonna acquire the staff as I watched him leave the room, which was a few moments before I heard thumping on the now-locked door, which made me gasp when the door opened to reveal my precious puppy Bella! Our freedom didn't last long, because we were soon face-to-face with Wizard, who chased us around the castle before joining his guards in cornering us in another room.

"I've had enough of this," Wizard grumbled. He then commanded his guards to get me and Bella out, but with anger boiling up inside me, I snapped, "Not so fast, Wizard!" before grabbing a nearby bucket of water and splashing it on Wizard. Unfortunately, instead of dying, Wizard scoffed me for my water-wasting method. Ticked off at the scoffing, I put my foot down and growled, "I won't leave this castle without your staff!" That's when Wizard told me he'd gladly give me his staff, but only after I gave him something in return. I thought he wanted the shoes at first, so I took them off and presented them to Wizard, who strangely refused to take them.

Once I put my shoes back on my feet and stood up, I looked at Wizard and asked, "What do you want, then?" Honestly, I thought he'd ask for something out of the ordinary, but with a grin that was both sly and shy on his face, Wizard asked, "May I please have a kiss?" Though I was shocked to get that request, I nodded before holding Wizard's face with my hands and gently kissing his lips. Throwing his arms around me (and quite possibly confusing both Bella and the guards), Wizard pulled me closer to him before kissing me in return while dropping something behind me: his staff. After we pulled away, I noticed the staff behind me and picked it up.

After a playful race to the Emerald City, which I lost to Wizard, let's just say that Oz was shocked to see me enter with more than just Bella and the staff. After explaining what happened, giving Oz the staff, and learning that there was actually nothing magical about the staff, I was shocked when Wizard floated by me and kissed me. After giggling and kissing him in return, I turned to Oz and asked what he was gonna do with my wish for a man, which was when Oz pointed to Wizard and asked, "Do you want him?" I nervously looked at Wizard and asked him for his input on the situation, to which he calmly said, "I honestly really like you, Lydia." I returned the saying before turning to Oz and giggling, "I think you found a man for me, Oz!"

Since that day, Wizard and I have lived in his castle, with Bella being our royal pet. If you ever come to Oz, don't flatten Glinda, because one of us will find you!
