Next Man Up Read Count : 127

Bad news today for Eagles Nation. Carson Wentz has a torn ACL and is out until next year. He is the team's leader and one of the most exciting players in the NFL. Our hope of a Super Bowl parade down Broad Street took a hugh hit yesterday. There remains a glimmer of hope, however. Nick Foles is "next man up". This has worked for the team so far this year. All Pro Left Tackle Jason Peters, Running Back Darren Sprouls, starting Middle Linebacker Jordon Hicks, Kicker Caleb Sturgis and Special Team Captain Chris Maragos all went down for the season and the next man up phenomena worked for them. Foles is a competent QB who has shown flashes of brilliance in the past (2013) who might be able to give the team just enough to win the ultimate prize. But to win it all, the Defense will have to add an additional turnover per game, perhaps even a defensive TD now and then. Special teams will need to play flawless football. We can't afford to leave a single point off the board. Wentz may well prove to be irreplaceable but I will continue to believe in this team's next man up ability until the final whistle proves me wrong.
