Once there was a knock on the door of 45 crosswood ave. It was a Saturday evening and my husband just got home from work about 5 minutes ago. I went to see what or who was at the the door at 5:45 in the night. I went to the door with hope thinking about that mabye my mother and father had sent me and Michael our Christmas gift from them in California. When I opened the door to my surprise the mailman wasn't there. In fact there wasn't anyone there at all. Then I heard the crying of a baby and almost crying myself, I took the baby by the handle of the basket it was in, closed the front door, and calling Michael in the living room, set the baby girl down on the couch and caught a glimpse of a note or card of some sort. as Michael came in he stood next to me and rapped his muscular arm around me and the both of us kissed each other and I said in curiosity " sweetie, did you see this bundle of an angel on the door mat when you came home from work?" Then Michael said " no I never, I swear on my everything that this thing wasn't there like five minutes ago. And trust me, I would have saw it." With wonder in both of our eyes, and a moment of silence later, it was broken by the baby as she shuffled around and started to whine. I had delt with a child before but that was when I was twelve and I would have to walk Michael through the whole process while trying to remember what to do from that babysitting course I took about twenty-eight years ago. After a long, deep, thoughtfull five minutes had passed, I finally said " Michael, we can't leave the poor child outside and she is so cute and excited to see a nice warm house after being there, helpless in the cold, wet, and freezing weather and with an imune system like hers, there is no way on God's green earth she will survive another even five minutes out there. She could freeze!" After saying that I remembered the slip of paper that was so cleverly tucked in with the baby girl that I saw when my darling husband came in to the living room and with that, I took out the note, the card, the whatever it was that was with the baby and immediately knew it was a letter addressed to me and Michael. As I read the letter out it said " Chloe, Michael, what you see here is your new rightfull daughter. You are now responsible for her every day actions and must work hard to keep her healthy, happy, and safe. She will grow up to be a beautiful young woman who can do whatever it takes to make sure you and your husband are taken care of as long as you take care of her. She will take what you have given her from caring for her, to feeding her, to making sure she gets a good education, and making sure she has a good stable house to live under. As this is all well unexpected, the government will pay for anything you need for your new rightfull daughter. Injoy yourselves." After I read that what seamed like a letter the size of a poor man's shopping list, me and Michael had decided that it would be a good idea to not tell anyone else about this, and to finally name our child.
