It’s dinner time and the children
Around the table are carping
I don’t like this and I hate that
Not easy without Mom harping

The story of children going 
To sleep without eating any food
Doesn’t seem to do anything
To change their unhappy mood

For tomorrow an idea I have
Their spinach in a little glass dish
Dessert is how they will perceive
My answer to a hopeful wish

It worked as they eagerly look
For spinach is now a dessert
Eating it up quickly, so now
I’ll never once want to revert
