Once upon a time there was a prince named Duane. One day an evil witch turned him into an ugly frog. His fairy godmother didn't have the power to completely reverse the spell, but she reversed it enough that he became human each night. As a frog, he liked to visit a certain pond in the woods every day. While there, a beautiful peasant girl came by. She could break the spell, he thought. He had never seen her before. The girl was humming. She picked him up when she saw him and said, "Hi. My name is Rachel. You shouldn't be here. I love frogs but most people don't like them and they kill them for soup." She put him down, and then picked some flowers. After a while she said, "I have to go, but I'll be back tomorrow." She left. The frog followed Rachel home, but she never saw him. When night came, he turned back into the prince. He snuck into Rachel's room, sat down and whispered, "You're wonderful. Thank you for giving me hope. You will be rewarded." Rachel mouthed the words I love you, and the prince left. The next day, Rachel went to the woods. She was talking to the frog when soldiers came. Several of them dragged Rachel to the palace while others picked the frog up carefully and followed behind. Rachel was locked in a room. She was scared. That night, while Rachel was asleep, the prince snuck into the room. He had fallen in love with Rachel. He could tell she was afraid, but he didn't want her to be afraid. Rachel woke up and saw the prince. She asked, "Who are you?" The prince said, "I'm the prince. Don't be afraid. I will let no harm come to you." Rachel curtsied and then got up. She asked, "What do you want from me, your highness?" The prince smiled. "I want you to become my wife." Rachel was surprised. She said, "I'm a peasant, and a peasant has nothing about her a prince would praise." The prince frowned. He said, "The frog will come here every day, but I will have my soldiers take the frog to its cage every night." "Thank you. I would be bored without him," said Rachel. The prince left. The next morning, the soldiers brought the frog to Rachel. This happened every day for twenty days. On the twentieth day, Rachel said, "I wish you were human. I love you."
