One time I started a project
When I was recuperating.
A counted cross stitch picture 
Is the story I’m relating.

This is something I never did
Not even one time before,
And I didn’t know the amount of
Patience that I’d need to have in store.

The only time of day I could
Seem to master the art
Was in the afternoon sunshine
And certainly not when it was dark.

It has been some years now
And this picture is the only one;
The only counted cross stitch
That I have ever done.

I count it as a treasure and
A memory of that ill.
Some have done so many
And I wonder at them still.
