Caesar Augustus; a decree’s sent out.
All people to place of birth shall pay tax.
Everyone to his own city they went about
Hurrying so that they would not be caught lax.

Joseph and Mary headed to Bethlehem
Because Joseph was of the house of David.
Not yet born Mary’s child rode with them.
Not a room at the inn, but they were saved.

Jesus was born, wrapped in swaddling clothes
He was placed to rest inside a manger.
Shepherds came by and so everyone knows.
While the Baby Jesus was away from danger.

The angel said, “Fear not....A savior is born”
This day in the city of David for all.
A multitude of heavenly host, not the norm
Began praising God and saying to all.

Glory, glory to God in the highest
and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
A savior was born who is the greatest
So many lives will be saved at the end.
