My daughter I lovingly named Valerie.
I wanted her to feel special you see.

A name can make you feel quite good
Or may not make you feel as you should.

My name, although not one to despise
Didn’t make me feel special or wise.

For my name was a simple name, Jean
Not special, not nothing, but in between.

There are many other ways loved you feel
A name doesn’t always have to appeal.

But I think I succeeded in naming Valerie
Because she likes her name too, you see.

Although love has made her special to me,
I feel a special bond with the name Valerie.
