Let’s analyze the song, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”

“You better watch out, you better not cry.” He sounds like someone you should be wary of, as in of his impending presence. That’s already ominous. Then, you’re told not to cry, as in if you cry or cry out at all, he’ll be the one to somehow punish you for doing so. Really no mention of Krampus’ accompanying him, so this may be the version in which there is no need of Krampus, since he is only fully present in the Germanic cultural version of Claus.

“Better not pout, I’m telling you why”. This guy is sounding more and more like he’ll do the hurting of the child in question with the petulant behavior. It sounds more and more like his own presence is the upcoming event to be feared, not just to encourage abiding by good boy or good girl social morays.

“He’s making a list; he’s checking it twice; he’s gonna find out who’s naughty or nice”. Naughty, even for a child, runs an extensive gambit. The child could be anything from a small animal-killer to a very spoiled child or even one that’s mostly good but acts spoiled once in a while.

“He knows when you are sleeping; he knows if you’re awake. He knows if you’ve been bad or good so be good for goodness’ sake.” I have one word for you: stalker. A very high-tech one at that. He has the equipment to monitor you year-round without your finding even one hidden camera anywhere. No elves disguised as other children or people with Dwarfism.

Just sayin’.
