“Ring around the rosies
Pocket full of posies
Ashes, ashes
We all fall down!”

Rosie-ringed cheeks
Pocket full of herbs
Achoo, achoo
We all fall dead!

I love this one. It makes me feel all dark and mischievously chaotic, kind of evil.

Pocket full of posies meant that they used to carry the herbs because they believed counteracted or warded away the disease, or its oncoming effects. Ring around the rosies is the rosy cheeks symptom, one of the stages.

It’s interesting, the recent enough outbreak of SARS, which seemed to be a perfected version of The Plague, about which Ring Around the Rosies is. Some countries still have it, for anyone to have had access to the original virus within case studies/patients in order to derive the perfected virus.
