It makes me wonder. You know, Princess Fiona’s ogre form looked a lot like a half-frog and half-human anyway. For all we know, since even the films didn’t mention this, the human form could’ve been a cover-up, some magical thing the Fairy Godmother (who acted more like a godfather anyway) did to her so as not to show she’d been the product of a frog and a human rather than fully human.

Think about it. Look at the ears. They look like they could be a cross between frog ears and human ears. Then, there’s the green skin. Oh, and Shrek ogres love the swamp. Known to be a frog hang-out.

The fat could be due to the conflicting forms of DNA trying to work within Fiona, or due to the repression spell itself. Somehow her repressed ogre form gave up its metabolism to the geared human form.

The frog prince into the king of Far, Far Away and the queen could’ve been convincing her she was human by encouraging her towards her human form by making her feel ashamed of her ogre form. Maybe all ogres are descended from frogs and humans in that reality.
