#373 A TREE'S LIFE Read Count : 129

Category : Poems

Sub Category : N/A
This Chinaberry tree was a beautiful shade tree that we miss so much. We took truck loads of trimmings every year to recycle, but it still grew too fast. Then roots were heading into septic area and we had to regretfully cut it down. I can't tell you how many truck loads of debris we had then, lost count. This poem is not about this special tree but any in the woods.

There once was a little seedling that soon began to grow.
It was dropped by a very large tree that was making quite a show.
The little seedling looked up at its father who was so very tall.
As the seedling looked up he said, I’ll not always be this small.

Rain, lightning, and wind gave the seedling quite a scare;
But as he grew much bigger, he soon was not to care.
As the tree was growing there always was so much to see,
For every animal in the woods it seemed came by to take a pee.

Then one day two boys came by and decided to take a rest.
The tree heard the two boys tell stories that were the very best.
Then springtime came and a bird was doing his best,
As he gathered twigs to make itself a new baby’s nest.

Then settling in for company the tree soon could hear
Mother bird beginning to sing out loud and clear.
While the father bird flew in and out feeling like a king,
The baby birds were being hatched and soon began to sing.

The little seedling now had himself a life that was the best,
As he was growing so tall now and fit among the rest.
Now he watched his little seedling starting to grow
While he stood out making just the most beautiful show.
