CHAPTER ONE


It was a fateful night. Dante and her twin sister, Alexis. Two young children at the ages of five would be found playing in the living room with their loving father. Dante's mother was murdered just before she had been born, some said it was just that her mother had been at the wrong place at the wrong time. But evidence had proven she had attempted to escape. Her father had always said it was his fault that he never listened to the pregnant woman. She had always said
 "I think someone is out to get me." But he dismissed it as just hormones. Now he was a single parent caring for his daughter who had been diagnosed with some sort of mental illness at birth. Most likely because when her mother had been stabbed to death and then lit to flames it affected the child. 

Dante and Alexis were both playing with stuffed animals. Dante had a stuffed kitten in her arms when it happened. All seemed normal until the door broke down with a loud thud. Three men in all black ran in and shot their machine guns at her father. Dante in shock ran away to the kitchen and called 911. The police were on their way. With her kitten clutched in her fist she held in close and hid inside the trash can. She could hearthe rapid fire of the guns breaking glalss and windows. The sound of police cars and ambulances was close. She was relieved all until she had the taste of blood in her mouth and cold metal seemed to have grabbed her by the throat. With the animal still in her hand the men dragged her out of the house. She had caught sight of her father in a puddle of blood on the floor and she screamed. 
"DADDY!!!!" She yelled out. When she discovered there was no escape she started yelling consistently trying to get the attention of someone. Even though they had lived in a very remote area.
"HELP MEE!!! HELP ME!!!"

 She screamed and cried at the top of her lungs. It all faded into silence as she was thrown into the back of a dark van and driven to places of the unknown.

The authorities and emergency services arrived far too late for Dante was already gone and there was a man lying dead inside the building. The kidnappers were long gone. One officer had woken up and brought his child with him.

"Frost, stay out here." 

He told his sleepy son, whom had just woken up, without a mother he was forced to go with his father. The officer by the name of Officer Evergreen walked into the building and caught sight the the dying man. Dante's father lay sprawled on the floor with broken bones and dark bruises all over his face, with a growing puddle of dark red blood begining to surround the area of his torso. He spoke his last words in a raspy voice with tears in his light blue eyes. 
"SAVE DANTE." 
He commanded weakly, just before his head dropped to the floor and his heart was never to make a bear again. 

The officer called in his son. Frost, a small 6 year old who wanred to be a police officer too, put a white tarp over the dead body. The EMT's came in and carried away the dead body of Mr.Winters, while the police officers called in a search for a missing five year old girl by the name of:
Dante Winters.
