I think I have been brave although feeling weak as a kitten, For under the safety of protection my brave heart was smitten. While watching a trainer in a show catch an alligator that was small. I thought he should get a larger one and to him I began to call.9 I’ll remember you he said as he chased around the water, Getting a much bigger gator as I thought he ought her. After he did his demonstration of putting the animal to sleep, We traipsed onto the next theater where some creatures creep. The trainer then called on me to be a volunteer he said. Oh no what now! He remembers me I dread. A vest he put upon me to protect me I was told, As I was given a big bullfrog squirming for me to hold. A pair of goggles I was wearing to protect me from the hairs, As a giant spider put on my vest brings to me some scares. The trainer said he heard some noises coming from my pocket. He then pulled out a hissing cockroach, and the frog I almost dropped it. The spider and the cockroach were taking turns climbing up my chest, While I kept squeezing the frog which wasn’t the thing that was best, For as I stepped from side to side to avoid what the frog was passing, The trainer got a paper towel to wipe the bottom that was gassing. The crowd was laughing as a picture the trainer was snapping. What a face they all saw on me! as I heard their clapping. Looking at the picture today I know that I was brave, For the look upon my face is too scary not to save. © Copyright 2000 by Jean E. Gorney
