Lara woke up on her couch, remembering that her friends and her had thrown a party at her house. She stood and walked into the kitchen, almost tripping over Leroy and Ryan in the process. Lara grabbed a cup of coffee and walked outside to check on her horse, Patch. "Where you off to?" A voice from behind Lara made her jump and almost spill her coffee. It was only Cecile. "Heh...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you." I shrugged. It was Lara's way of saying "Whatever." 
Lara took a sip of her coffee and walked over to the stable, but froze as she heard footsteps approaching her. She liked towards the trees and see a man walking towards her. The man stumbled towards Lara amd she realized he was sick. The man's hair was pale gray and matted with blood, his skin was a sickening gray, and his clothes were tattered. "Sir, are you okay?" Lara cautiously stepped towards the man as he grabbed her shoulders and knocked get onto her back, pinning her to the ground. Lara screamed, alerting Cecile who was standing on the back porch. She ran over to the man, threw him off of Lara, and grabbed Lara's arm. Cecile raced back into Lara's house and turned on the news. "What the hell was that thing, Cecile?" Lara yelled as Cecile pulled her inside and locked the back door. 
Cecile ignored Lara and watched the news carefully. By this point, everyone else was awake and drinking their morning coffee. On the news, they spoke of a science lab where this "disease" had first appeared. 
"The virus escaped the science lab and started infecting everyone around the lab, bringing people back as flesh-eating monsters." The woman on the news explained as the screen changed to the video of a lab test subject, a rat, escaping it's cage and infecting people. 
Cecile turned off the tv and looked around. "We have to get someplace safer than here. We won't lady long here."
