I watch her 
her chest rises and falls 
to the beat of my heart
her face is peaceful 
the calm I wish to know 
washes over me for a second
then is gone 
when I remember 
life isn't easy
but as long as I have her 
it's so much better. 
I feel her fingers tangled with mine
and she holds my hand 
proudly
I look at her and know 
I 
am 
home
