One ends
another begins
It was nice to know you
but I must be moving on

“Are you still there?”
“Yes, I’m still here.”

Our song will play
an elegy sent to the stars
Like cremated bones
In an urn of aluminum and gold
Thrown to a cosmic sea

Will we hear it crash
upon distant shores
In the next millenia?
What will be left of us by then?

“Are you still there?”
“…I’m…here”

38,000 miles per hour
You wouldn’t even see me
And yet
I can still watch the sky
Slowly pass around me
I wave to the ghosts
As they flicker in reply

And our song still plays
In continuous repeat

“Are you still there?”
“…still…”
