Smiling faces we’re seeing frequently everywhere.
People wishing to others a very Happy New Year.
We may be in the midst of a terrible war in Iraq,
But even the soldiers are wishing, as they look back.
Their best Christmas present will be when they return
Even though many of us have sent presents with concern.
Family had empty places at the Christmas tables set
As they wished, too, for their far away missing guest.
May peacefulness come to all those on earth,
Something we’ve wished for since before Jesus’ birth.
At least now we know that someday we’ll be
In peace with God when time comes and heaven we see.

God keep our soldiers safe and let 
them know we love and miss them!
