#524 WATCH THOSE ADS Read Count : 71

They think I watch the TV commercials
And they sure do put them loud;
But I most often mute them out.
They then just become a cloud.

They seem to go on and on forever
Ten, twelve, fifteen or more
I’m not going to sit and watch
Them that long, it’s for sure.

Sometimes I talk on the telephone
Or read some pages in a book,
And times I even leave the room
To go to the kitchen and cook.

I can pare and cut the potatoes
And put them in the pot to boil.
Or hang out or take the clothes in
Or roll the garden hose in a coil.

There are many chores I can handle
And my ears pick up on the sound
Which becomes the story now
When it sure does lower down.

I find I don’t really miss a thing
As I romp around the house
The ads are gone when I return
The TV now is as quiet as a mouse.

The noise I couldn’t understand
While roaming, seeming far away
Was just the commercials that I missed
While being busy about my day.

I used to enjoy the commercials
When they were short and cute
We couldn’t believe what animals did
And what the products did would suit.

But now they’re not only so loud
And long and too numerous,
You wonder if it’s just some sex
That they are trying to sell us.

The things that used to really amaze
Are now just fake, unreal additions
I hate those virtual reality scenes--
Oh, I’d rather have the old traditions.

And annoying me over and over
With the same things I just saw
Makes me want to take and throw
All those products against the wall.

Do you really think you are earning
More money by blasting my TV?
Or are you just spending more
On things that I don’t really see?

You could lower the price of products.
That would really get my attention.
And coupons often are a help to me
Give products my honorable mention.

In fact I don't watch much TV at all.
