Hundreds of people milled around the streets despite the late hour. The noise levels rivalled that of the suburbs during the day. All the streets were illuminated by harsh fluorescent lights, which made it seem like the sun had never set.

Cars rushed up and down the streets as the day shift returned home and the nights workers headed to their jobs. Drunken groups of people made their way to parties and bars; the scantily dressed women drew attention to themselves as they sang and laughed, the drunken men hollered at women and laughed aloud at one another’s jokes.

He took an immediate disliking to this. The city centre was a horrible, noisy place. The sheer volume of people in the capital was going to make it close to impossible to find just one individual. He had thirty six hours left before he would be called back and told to set the original plan in motion. That much noise would draw unnecessary attention, but it would have been necessary.

From what he could see, people these days favoured minimal clothing and bright colours. Women favoured shoes which were entirely aesthetic rather than practical. The one he sought had never been one to pass up practicality for looks, nor had she ever liked bright, eye catching colours. He was certain at least that much of her true personality would hold true, even now.

He was perched on a wall, observing the people around him with mild interest whilst he tried to come up with a good way to go about searching the city. Wandering around aimlessly was pointless, he needed to narrow down his search.

“Hey baby, why are you sat here all by yourself? Aren't you planning on having fun tonight?”

The sweet voice of a female pulled him from his brooding, drawing his gaze to a young woman in an exceptionally revealing blue mini. Behind her three other women, all dressed in their Friday night party clothes, cast approving looks over him, smiling alluringly at him.

“I was, but I don’t know where to go. I am new in town,” he smirked. “perhaps you beautiful ladies could show me where I can find a good time in this city.”

He was laying the charm on thick, his mind snaring the red head before him with ease. She smiled and leaned forward, exposing enough to give him a really good look at what was on offer. He glanced down briefly, appraising what was on show before smiling broadly at her.

“Come with us, we're off to a local club. We can drink, dance... maybe have some fun afterward if you’re up for it,” she murmured shyly.

“I would very much like that,” he purred, sliding off the wall he had been using as a perch.

She smiled at him, taking his hand. The women led him down the street to a building with no windows and a line waiting to enter. The building seemed to vibrate from a deep, fast paced beat which resonated from its interior.

This was new to him. He had never encountered a place like this before; he felt somewhat apprehensive about entering the building. In the other hand, the excitement around him made the air almost buzz with energy so perhaps this would prove entertaining.

The line move swiftly, and sooner than he thought possible the building was revealing its secrets to him. The music was unlike anything he had heard before, instead of singing the man said the lyrics fast and without tune. He disliked this farce for music. The crowd seemed obscured within a synthetic mist; the energy in the room radiated with drunken stupor and glee.

He couldn’t imagine her liking this, however this was as good a place to start looking as any. He allowed the red head to lead him in, on to the dance floor. He kept an eye on the crowd as they danced, sampling the energy of every female around him. She wasn’t here, but that didn’t mean she was not in another building like this one.

She had a penchant for having fun at any opportune moment, at least when she wasn’t preoccupied with something he set her mind on. Something like this would attract her no matter what state she was in, he was sure of it.

He returned his attention to his dance partner, drinking up her form. Thirty six hours left... No harm in starting the chaos early... He leant down, brushing his lips across her cheek.

“Come with me,” he purred, asserting his influence on her mind, “I have an idea you are going to love.”

She barely fought back, seeming content to go with him wherever he wanted. He led her through the throng of bodies to a secluded corner, out of the line of sight of all the people in the club. There were plenty of tight nooks and crannies to hide the leftovers, nobody would be any wiser to what happened until the scraps putrefied.

He backed the red headed beauty into a corner, using his body to block what was happening, making it appear as if they were a lust driven pair seeking seclusion to anyone who may come close. It was doubtful anyone will, but nothing wrong with taking precautions.

“What did you want to show me,” the girl asked.

“This,” he hissed.

He leant down, brushing his lips against hers. She’s was certain he was about to show her the time of her life. She could feel her entire form fill with anticipation. A smile spread across her lips, her eyes started to close... pain.

It started in her chest, radiating out over her whole body, locking her limbs in place. Her eyes widened as shock flooded her system, silencing her agonized cry before it could pass her lips.

He watched the light fade from her eyes, as life left her. He had been careful not to spill any blood, no point in leaving an unnecessary mess, at least for the moment. Supporting her entire weight, he edged deeper into the shadows and began feeding. The music drowned out the noise of bones snapping, affording him some time to enjoy his meal.

He had quite a few pits of indulgence like this to get through, he was going to need his strength. Time was finally running out.
