I sit uo and yawn. The hazy morning light streams through my white curtains. First day of school always made me scared. My Clothes had always been a older style of grunge, never up to date. My house keeper Anna calls me down to breakfast. My mom died three years ago in a house fire with my baby sister Lisa. 

Me, Anna and my Dad are the only ones who escaped. . . I shake my head getting rid of the memories. I tell Anna Ill be down in 5 minutes. I keep my black hair shaggy to hide one eye that is a red. Only my best friends Mia and Jake seen both of them. Of course my family. Ive always been teased about my oddity, one dark brown, one red. I throw on my favriote and worn out Pearl Jam T-Shirt with some blue jeans. 

I dig out mt black chucks and run downstairs. "Hello Anna!" I kiss her on the cheek. "Hey dad." He nods slightly reading his newspaper. Anna pokes my side. "Your skinny boy,have you not been eating." Ive always been lankly and tall. My face long and Oval. Having my mothers full lips and long nose.

I smile. "You know me, I eat so much just cant gain." I squeeze her shoulders and sit in my chair. She slides my plate of Eggs,Bacon and toast in front of me. I thank her and start shoveling food in my mouth. Anna looks outside and frowns. "Jake has a car"? I look outside and see a red Mazda outside with Mia in the front seat. "Thats new. . . he probably stole it." Anna looked at me Horrified. I laughed. "Im kidding!" She grimanced and started cleaning. I grabbed my bag and said my goodbyes.

Jake grinned and waved. Mia took out her earbuds. "Hey there Link!" I got the nickname for going to a costume party dressed as link from Legend Of Zelda. Jake has a flip over cut, his auburn hair looking red in the light. He always had the prom king look but never fell for his queen. Mia has long straight light brown hair with grey eyes. She is and always has been a bookish shy girl.

The three of us are a weird group fated to be. Me, the gay emo, with a bloody past. Jake, loved by all, but could never could express love back. Mia who wont even talk about her past and only talks to us. The purr of the Mazda relaxes my aching mind. We get to school and shift my bangs to the odd eye. Jake and Mia dont question and get out of the car. We walk silently to the auditorium. Our junior year. I finally turned 16 on June 15th.

Jake links his arms and picks a row in the back. I could feel unfamilier eyes follow us. "Do you guys feel that"? They glance at me quizzically. "The weird feeling, like new presence." Jake laughs. "Dude we have new tenth graders, Of course a new presence." I laugh weakly with him. "Y-yeah of course." We take our seats and the light dims. The principal starts talking. "Welcome students of South Highschool. . ." I let his nasely voice drift out and focus on Mias heartbeat. I count in my head. One,two. One,two. Over and over. Only seemed like three minutes when the lights turned back on.

"Wha-what"? I blinked hard. Jake nudged me up. "I think this year is going to be great." I knitted my eyebrows together. "What do you mean?" I looked around for Mia. "Where did Mia Go"? Jake Shrugged. "Dunno, shes never one for crowds." I nodded in agreement. I turn around seeinga flash of black and red hair turning the corner.
