#487 A VISIT TO THE GRANDPARENTS Read Count : 136

I hear your little knock upon my door.
I know that serious playing is in store.

In you come with satchels of toys
Things that are played with by little boys.

After we get all our hugs and our kisses
We are ready to fulfill your wishes.

But toys from the store are not in our minds.
We like to use our imagination at times.

A tunnel would be nice for your cars to run through
Nana gets a box and tape for what Grandpa will do.

Bending and twisting and soon done with a flair
Grandpa and you have cars whizzing in air.

From blocks you both build Borgs to attack
And the lounge chairs spin and rock back

As they become the space ships in action
And the attack soon becomes quite an attraction.

Spinning around the hallways in the dinette chair
You think at an amusement park you are there.

Then to slow things down really quick
Nana gives you to hold, the “Swiffer” stick.

She gets her tile floors all nice and clean
You have fun twirling all around and between.

Then to slow things down even a bit more
Grandpa has a story time for sure.

He holds the book and you turn the pages
But the stories he tells are not the books wages.

Grandpa gets you laughing and smiling with delight
As he tells his own stories from the pictures in sight.

Then when it is time for you and Mommy to go
You sure look sad and really move slow.

You say, just one more this and one more that
You just have some water from the tap.

Struggling hard we help Mom get you in the car
With kisses and hugs the tightest so far

Standing on the porch and waving good bye
We’re feeling sad as we hear you cry.

I really, really don’t want to go home yet is your song
But Nana and Grandpa are taking a nap before long.
