#492 AS YOU GROW Read Count : 95

Category : Poems

Sub Category : N/A
You are growing bigger and bigger
Going from a crawl to a walk.
We can’t wait for those first little words
And soon you do nothing but talk.

Soon you are lost in your own little world
Playing with all kinds of toys.
Growing up is so much fun
For all little girls and boys.

Soon you are five and no longer
Tugging on your Momma’s sleeve
And now your new day begins
As for school far off you leave.

Marbles and baseball and jumping rope
Games that are played in a group,
All take the place of time at home
And you learn to eat knew things like soup.

Junior High comes and you are
Beginning to sprout out.
Senior High comes and soon
Your words are starting to have clout.

Graduation comes and off you go
With a date on your arm
As prom night comes around
And parents are filled with alarm.

For soon to college or a job you will go
And before we know there’s a marriage
And you certainly aren’t the little
We walked while pushing you in a carriage.

So as you grow along life’s path
We try to enjoy every minute in it,
For never again will those same times
Play the same music again on a spinet.
