I thought I'd make some turkey soup From the carcass left from Thanksgiving It is not the same as chicken soup Which is touted to improve your living The broth is getting a little thicker As the bones are all falling loose I'm glad we chose a turkey now And dinner was not a ham or goose I'll sprinkle in some poultry seasoning See whatever in the cabinet I should find Of course, I must use some reasoning I think, as I add parsley flakes and thyme. As my concoction stews all together It works itself into quite a brew I start to add in some vegetables Cut up smaller than I do for stew. Leftovers veggies from the freezer Will add to the fresh ones I lack Until finally the noodles are added Which are thin and very flat And such is that of Turkey soup! © Copyright 1999 by Jean E.
