Picnics are always fun in the usual way, When we’d take a lunch to the park to play. Or a picnic by a river where we could row a boat On a warm sunny day when we didn’t need a coat. A picnic at the grandparents was always a delight When we were sure to have our water balloon fight. Sometimes in the winter under the fireplace glow We’d roast hot dogs and marshmallows just so. A picnic in our screen room with the grill outside Gives us a place from the bugs in which to hide. A church picnic is fun where you gather at a spot And really get to know each other a lot. On the 4th of July to a picnic your town may give way Ending at night with a big fireworks display. At a company picnic your employer may have fare And you can play games or just relax in a chair. Picnics are fun, no mater where So get yourself up and get on out there. (c) Copyright by Jean E. Gorney
