Play starts in village center.
Sm: Slaves for sale! Do you want a slave to do your dirty work? Of course you do!
SB: I do! I do!
Slave: We are not to be sold!
Zoom in on a slave master
 preparing to whip a useless slave . 
SM: slaves aren't worthy to have rights! *whip* *whip* *whip* *whip*
Slave:*screams painfully as the whip lashes into her skin*
Screen fades...
Zoom in on the slaves
Slave 1: Black people deserve the rights to live freely, we shall escape! WE SHALL RUN!
Slave 2 : we will be punished if we were caught. They will send their dogs, they will find us, they will kill us.
Slave 3: did you see what they did to that her?!
Slave 1: I did, and it was unfair! That should prove to you why we should leave!
Slave: *sad face* There will be consequences...
Fade in on the slaves preparing to leave
Slave 1: I have ordered a conducter to meet us here.
Conducter comes out from behind the prickly bush.
Conducter: quick follow me! I can hear the blood hounds
Slave: where are you taking us!
Conducter: Fortress Monroe!
Screen blacks
They reappear in a barn.
Slave 2 : so we made it this far, what's to say we will not get caught!
Slave 3:There are many slave catchers out here. They might take us back to the slave master...
Fade out.
Back with the slave master
SM: WHAT! More slaves have escaped! This could be an inspiration to other slaves. Set bounties for every slave that escapes!
Fade out
We see the slaves at fortress monroe
An assistant hands them fresh clothes and food.
Slave 1: We can stay in this cabin, we are safe now! There are soldiers here to protect us!
Slave : There are still slave catchers though.
Slave 3: Someday they will find a way into the fortress.
Screen goes black
Slave 2: GET UP! We cannot stay here any longer! There are slave catchers! We must escape through the swamp.
Conducter is waiting in the swamp.
Conducter: hurry in here
Slave 1:what are we going to do now? There are no places left to go.
Slave 2: There is a place I've heard of... From the other slaves, it's a free country where no slavery persists. A place for peace

Slave 2: Canada
Fade out
Slave 1:We followed the river, we went through forests, how far away is Canada?
Conducter: I seem to be lost.
Slave : lost? Where are we?
Conducter looks up at the stars
Conducter:🎶when the sun comes back🎶
Slave 1:now is not the time to be singing 
Conducter:no, the drinking gourd,a constellation that points north. That points to Canada.
🎶follow the drinking gourd. For the olg man's waiting for to carry you to the prickly bush. Follow the drinking gourd.🎶
Fade out
The slaves have arrived in buffalo,the border to Canada
Slave 2:Hurry! The slave catchers, they're right behind us!
The slave catchers appear
Slave 3: we're almost in the free country!
They run toward where Canada officially starts
Slave 1:Thank you for taking us here!
They reach the border of Canada
Slave: We are in a free country now!
Slave 3: you cannot hurt us here!
Conducter runs but the slave catchers grab him and try to pull him back
Slave 3: we're in Canada now
Slave 1: You can't hurt us anymore!
Slave 2: We have rights now!
The slave catchers don't care and they try to pull him away.
But then the natives of Canada come and help the conducter.
The conducter breaks free!
All: Canada is a free country!
