#163 TRAIN STOP Read Count : 93

Category : Poems

Sub Category : N/A
I’m sitting here watching a train go by,
	car after car after car.
Looking down the track I can’t see the end,
the train stretches out so far.

Then in the distance I hear its whistle blow
as it comes to a new light.
It gives out a warning for everyone
to watch out, whomever is in sight.

Seventy-eighty-over a hundred
	cars have gone past,
As I sit here in my car anxiously
	waiting for the last.

There are tankers, lumber cars
	and cattle cars passing.
And just when I think this train is
	going to be everlasting,

I see the trailing red caboose
	passing by the gate.
Bells stop clanging, flashing lights cease
and the end has come to my wait.
