#156 CAT ON A LIMB Read Count : 69

Category : Poems

Sub Category : N/A
“Keep going, keep going,” they yell
as he heads to the top of the tree.
You may act like a monkey, but you
don’t look like one to me.

Higher, higher you can hear
	some of the boys yell.
While others are saying we’ll tell.
	Oh Mom! Yes, we’ll tell.

Then he’s out on a limb, so afraid and
not knowing how to get down.
The boys say he’s so far up he’ll surely
get hurt if he falls to the ground.

“What will we do?” the boys who are
now worried as their fears are relaying.
It looks like high in the tree and out
on a limb he’ll be staying.

Mom heard and called on the fire company
	to help set him free.
And out came the fire truck with it’s
	whole company.

For a cat may have nine lives, but
	he was very old,
And from the limb at the top of that tall tree
	he surely didn’t look bold.

The boys came into dinner and from
	Dad received a reprimand
For what they thought would be fun
did not turn out so grand.
