You can be a blessing to people in stress of all kinds in relationships, and otherwise, by making available free Bibles and Christian books. If you have a swap meet or flea market in your area, this is a good place to have a large crowd. When i do it, i set up three card tables and two chairs. Usually, ten small to medium boxes of reading materials will be plenty for a venue such as this. It is interesting to watch people's body language as they see what you are giving away. Thrift stores and churches are great sources for these books. Also, there are Bible foundations around that may ship you some Bibles if you will present your mission in a professional manner. I also offer them a chance to have the needs of their hearts met by praying for them, if they want it. I never push people to get books or prayer. As you continue to go to the same venues consistently, people will come again and again to access books and possibly prayer. I try to maintain a schedule of once a week on Fridays, but you may have another day that is better for you If people are hesitant about having prayer with you, offer them the option of an unspoken request. This will help to take the pressure off, if it is a sensitive subject. The important part is to be close to God when you do this so you can hear His instructions. Don't be afraid of making mistakes, you are human like the rest of us. You can also go to businesses and ask if you can leave a few Bibles and books for those in need of help. One lady came into an electrical supply store that had Christian owners. She saw the Bibles I had left there, and was so happy to be able to get one because of what she was going through in her life. Another incident happened when I was walking down the sidewalk with my roller suitcase I use to transport Bibles. I heard a young woman crying, so I found her on her front steps and listened to what was going on with her. She was gradually going blind from an incurable eye disease. I prayed for her and gave her a Bible, and went to the next "divine appointment" God had for me to accomplish. You will have these as well as you reach out to others in Jesus' name. God is waiting for Christians to step up and say, "Here I am to serve You, Lord. Send me, please!" Yard sales are a great way to hand out books, also. Just pray, and set up a table and watch what God will do. I started the ministry by going to the bar district in my city and offering Bibles to bars to help people who were depressed. I told them you could be instrumental in helping someone contemplating suicide, by giving them a Bible. I had a few bars that did this, but many who would not. God showed me not to worry about the ones who rejected doing this, because they were not rejecting me, but Him. My job was not to argue or push people, but to be a messenger of hope. He wanted me to be thankful for the ones who did agree to give out Bibles, and not dwell on the rudeness and the negativity of those who turned it down. You can see a person's spiritual state by their body language and comments. This ministry has been going for six years or so, now. God has recently shown me how to reach even more people as the the next phase of this ministry begins soon. Trust God to guide and protect if you elect to do a ministry like this. Yours may be different than what I have described here, but that is okay. God knows better than. anyone else what the people need around you. Go out in His love and power and mercy, for the time is short. God bless you as you follow Him as He wants to be followed.
