My bones are like a cage of rust
Corroded by years of fire and lust
Crumbling at the slightest touch
This withered heart
It is a flightless raven
Pulsing black blood through my hollow
No wings to carry it away
Just a skeleton of ash and cinders
And feathers of dust

How I miss those bird songs
Playing melodies
Of shaking bodies and burning trees
The flames are leaves
And my love and I dance in the whirlwind
Of stars and embers
As the vultures circle above us
Watching with hungry eyes
