This Independence Day we celebrate
As fireworks fly high up in the sky;
And thoughts of those young and old
Come back to us of days gone by.

Sitting by tents, muskets in hands, worn,
But they were so glad to be alive.
It’s not in the meager food packets,
But in Freedom they imbibe.

We sit so idle with all negatives to say
When the whole reason this land was sought,
Was when things don’t turn out our way,
we all can act while saying what we thought.

Instead of being lazy in our chair,
Complaining about what is there,
We should be working for a change,
For in our country, we can rearrange.
