LOOKING DEEP

I looked into the eyes of a man old and worn
His clothes were worn, quite tattered and torn

His hands were gnarled and looked really sore
I think where have I seen this old man before

Was it on a bench while I was down at the park?
Was he the one I saw sleeping in a box in the dark

But when I look really close, I feel a warmth inside
Could this be the man who was always my guide

Did the time pass so quickly; I was lost in my own past,
Now I am seeing deep into my Dad’s heart at last.

For there are so many memories I now can recall.
So many times my Dad has kept me from a fall.

I'm going to treasure each day and new minute
I'm so glad that my Dad can still be here in it.
