There are things I wish I had not done
Although at the time they seemed like fun,
Like a time I said something that hurt deep.
Immediately after I felt like a creep.
There was a time when I passed right by
When help was needed I didn’t even try.
A secret I may not have fully kept
Into my guilty conscience has leap.
From now on I think I’ll try to remember
The spark I set may be a smoldering ember,
In my heart forever to burn and sear.
Forgiven I am, but forever it will be there.
What’s done, is done even if we make amends,
The hurt is there and its sadness transcends.
