#266 FAR AWAY CAN STILL FEEL CLOSE Read Count : 136

Moving away from my family and friends.
Days are long, like having no ends.

So I sit and ponder just what can I do?
I think of ideas that are the usual few,

Sending cards, letters or a phone call;
There must be something else; it can’t be all.

I miss their faces while I sit and think.
Then this idea comes to me in a wink.

I’ll get a little book, the picture album kind,
Put in it pictures of family and friends I find,

Reminders then of birthdays and other dates;
To visit to a new home, a map inside waits.

A card with address and numbers of phone,
Now I look them up not feeling so alone.

Visiting, I update pictures or add a new face.
Not seeming far, I’m just at my home base.
